Arachnid Amplifiers are the next step in amplifier fundamentals. 2-channel & 4-channel models take every advantage afforded by Class A/B linear amplifier technology, a compromise of performance and high fidelity characteristics. Each stereophonic pair can power individual 4-ohm or 2-ohm speakers, while a bridged pair supersizes it’s strength to a 4-ohm load. Regardless of the configuration, Arachnid amplifiers pave the road of reliability and longevity you expect from Soundstream. Active 12dB/Octave Crossovers & Bass Boost Active crossovers built into an amplifier are the most efficient type of crossovers to use in car audio systems. Passive crossover circuits (like those that come with speakers) can have a power loss of 0.5dB or more. Active crossovers have much lower power loss, if any at all. Simultaneously, active crossovers protect speakers from damage by harmful frequencies, and preserve optimum performance. Low Level RCA Input & Pre-Amp Output Connect the low level (pre-amp) audio output of the car stereo to the amplifier, using good quality twisted pair RCA interconnect cables. Twisted pair RCA cables are optimal for their noise rejection properties. The amplifiers pre-amp output daisy-chains the audio signal to multiple amplifiers of complex audio systems. Military Grade FR-4 PCB w/ MOSFET Power Supply FR-4 circuit board substrate is a woven fiberglass cloth impregnated with an epoxy resin, providing good electrical insulation properties and heat resistance exceeding 260OF. MOSFET power supply is the stable & efficient conversion of a vehicles Direct Current (DC) power to Alternating Current (AC) power for speakers. Direct Short, Thermal, & Overload Protection Circuits Conventional amplifier circuitry include a self-preservation mode, which temporarily shuts down the amplifier, protecting it from stress and risk of damage. Protection triggers include speaker output direct short, speaker impedance less than the amplifiers stability, or other unknown conditions causing the amplifier internal temperature to rise to unsafe levels. 2-ohm & 4-Ohm Bridged Minimum Impedance Stability An amplifiers impedance stability is its ability to continuously power speaker(s) of no less than the given impedance per channel, without the risk of damage. An "Ohm" is the measurement of resistance (impedance) of a speakers voice coil, which indicates how much the amplifier will resist the flow of power to it. Speakers are commonly available in a variety of voice coil configurations and impedances, so be sure the configuration of yours will be no less than 2-ohm.
